Cloudflare has released Cloudflare OS, an open-source platform designed to help companies deploy AI agents, build applications and automate work while maintaining control over enterprise data and systems. The platform is based on infrastructure Cloudflare has already been using internally across engineering, sales and IT.

The idea is straightforward: instead of employees using AI as a separate chatbot, Cloudflare OS gives them an AI workspace connected to company knowledge, tools and workflows. Employees can create applications, automate repetitive tasks and work with internal information through browser-based agent environments.

AI With Enterprise Controls

One of the biggest challenges of enterprise AI is access.

An AI agent may be capable of performing a task, but giving it access to internal databases, applications and company information creates security and governance risks.

Cloudflare OS addresses this with controls built into the platform. Agents begin with limited access, while Cloudflare’s Access, AI Gateway, MCP Portals and Gatekeepers can determine which systems and resources each agent is allowed to use.

From Chatbots To Digital Workers

The broader shift is important.

AI is moving from tools that simply generate answers toward systems capable of performing work.

Cloudflare’s platform reflects that transition. Its architecture combines AI agents with compute, storage, security and enterprise integrations, allowing AI to operate inside the company’s existing digital environment rather than remaining isolated from it.

Cloudflare is effectively betting that the next generation of enterprise software will not simply contain AI.

AI will become part of how the software itself operates.

Why It Matters

The release also reinforces Cloudflare’s broader strategy around the emerging agentic Internet. The company has been expanding infrastructure designed to help developers build, deploy, secure and scale autonomous AI agents across its global network.

Cloudflare OS is therefore more than another AI productivity tool.

It represents a vision of the enterprise where employees, applications and AI agents work on the same infrastructure—with governance built into the system from the beginning.

The next enterprise software revolution may not be about giving every employee an AI assistant. It may be about giving AI the infrastructure to become part of the company itself.
